Hate Crimes on Homeless People

Newsdesk.org, Nov. 12, 2008 and Aug. 20, 2009

The National Coalition for the Homeless tracks violent acts committed against homeless people in the U.S. annually. The Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group maintains the victims’ status motivate these attacks and should be treated as hate crimes, like those perpetrated against any other group. Newsdesk published a series on this trend.

This page includes the main story from the 2008 report, as well as links for two sidebar stories, found at the top of the page.

This page is a followup from 2009 on the inclusion of homeless people in hate-crime legislation recently passed.
